In 1932, Philip Walsh created Walsh Equipment. In the early years, the business was centered on the corrugated metal pipe industry. In 1947, the company moved its location to 47 Chestnut St. in Butler, PA. With a small but devoted sales team and office staff, Mr. Walsh traveled throughout Butler growing his new business enterprise.

Following WWII, the product lines increased to include an assortment of municipal, construction, highway, agricultural, and paving needs. Walsh became a dealer that started selling Adams Motor Graders as the number of employees and customers began to expand. In the 1960's, road signs, tractor loader backhoes, and snow removal equipment, such as Gledhill plows, were introduced. The company's sales team began operating throughout Western Pennsylvania.

In the 1970's, Walsh Equipment added Tiger Roadside Mowing Products to the line. With his son Mike, who entered the business in 1976, Mr. Walsh decided to move the company onto Route 422 in Prospect, Pennsylvania. The superior location gave Walsh more space to serve their customers. The close proximity to I-79 also created the opportunity for a wider service and sales area.

Taking over for his father in the early 1980's, Mike added Compaction Equipment, LeeBoy Paving Products and Western Snow Plows to the company. The business was now servicing contractors as well as its conventional municipal customers with a wide variety of new and used heavy equipment. Throughout the 1980's and 1990's, the willpower of Walsh's employees and the esteemed relationships with numerous customers carried the company along.

In 2002 Walsh Equipment became a JCB dealer and added their construction product line including equipment like tandem drum rollers, construction backhoes and loaders, compactors, skid steers, articulating trucks, excavators, telehandlers and more. In 2009, Walsh added J&J Dump Bodies and Trailers to our product lineup furthering the tradition of product development and innovation.
